Sometimes, my love, she sleeps in the daytime too
all she ever knew was noon
and on a good day, she could sleep forever
and when November comes, save the day for Farmer John
sun shines in at 6:15, you know she could sleep forever
too much sleep, not enough enough dreams, tell me how does it look behind those eyes?
sometimes, my love, she stays up all night
standing in the light of the moon
and for awhile, we can be together
and there we’ll be in the sitting room,
in the light of the afternoon
spinning’ yarns of how our dreams
go on and on forever
too much sleep, not enough enough dreams, tell me how does it look behind those eyes?

Ulaanbaatar
02:12
|
|||
The wind it howls, it howls and it blows
it’s cold out there, and I’m wearing clothes.
Next door, the Jones, he’s wrapping the faucets,
and I’m getting coats, out of the closet.
Oh, could it be any colder than Ulaanbaatar?
I don’t know
The weatherman said it’s gonna snow
But could it be any colder than Ulaanbaatar?
I don’t know

Any Old Thing
02:17
|
|||
Someday when you get older, I will tell you all about how the people would sing,
bout the moon, stars, being in bars, about fools, rain, feeling’ no pain,
about how love stings, nights in the spring, about something, any old thing at all.
The people would sing about the road, the cars, pickin’ guitars, about life, death, what’s in the desk,
about the most rain we’ve ever seen, about something any old thing at all.
The people would sing about the moon, the stars, being in bars, about fools, rain, feeling no pain,
about how love stings, nights in the spring, about the earth, bones, earthly unknowns, about the wind, the sway, somewhere to stay
something, any old thing at all.

Real Cops
02:35
|
|||
Is it true in this world where time stands still?
I don’t know
But I’ve seen them on the TV screen just hanging out
and on Blue Bloods and crime TV I don’t know about
oh, is there something in between what is real and what’s on TV
I gotta know just one more thing
If it’s true in this world,
then time will save us still.
Do real cops hang out in parking lots
out late at night, without their lights?
oh, is there something in between what is real and what’s on TV
I gotta know just one more thing
Is it true in this world when time stands still?
I don’t know

Not long ago I swam, in two oceans with my glasses on.
It’s worth the risk, to be able to see.
I was in the sea, saw a shark with real big teeth.
He’s not afraid of me.
It’s worth the risk, to be able to see.

Right Then I Knew
02:16
|
|||
Andy’s bar never seen much light ’till you walked in
on one spring night having drinks with your friends
I said, oh Lord can it be?
Right then I knew we’d found each other
I knew I’d never need another
10 years, 2 cats, 1 house, and now your my best friend
Right then I knew we’d found each other
I knew I’d never need another

Hey Man, This is My Home
02:08
|
|||
I gotta say I’m living’ the good life
Only leave my home when it’s late at night
I’m never starving or don’t get enough to sleep
I got it all, in my hall, it is my hall.
It’s gonna be hard to throw me out,
and who would wanna kill a friendly mouse,
hey man, this is my home.
And I never seen a mouse trap I couldn’t beat
no, I’ve never seen a cheese I didn’t eat.
I don’t know if you’ve are listening,
We could live together like a nuclear family,
this is our home,
And I’ve never seen a mouse trap I couldn’t,
I’ve never seen a cheese that I wouldn’t,
and they wouldn’t listen to a mouse who could talk.

New Planets
02:29
|
|||
Most magical beings have wings
Or a combination of random things
Twin heads on a bird in the snow
Hooves and teeth and horns that glow
when we come across new planets
Does that make us stars?
Can we do this on our own?
Can we really be alone?
With all the life here that we can see,
a betting man says we got company
When we come across new planets,
Does that make us stars?

Beware the Light
02:42
|
|||
In the dark, lives the night
but like old Caliban said, beware the light.
You know in my life, I've been a bear, an eagle, a boyscout, a crusader, a bobcat, a fighting friar, musician, a chorister, a beechwood creeper, lover, leaver, liar, friend,
son, grandson, boyfriend, bump on a log, marching bandsmen, traveller, artist, brother, itinerant, student, reader, learner…
…and that’s just getting started.
I’ve been a terrible tornado, a teacher, a man, a child, a man-child, a collector, a property owner, a bookseller, a commuter, a patient, a customer, a client, a kin, a movie-goer, and that’s not even including all the stuff I’d like to become later…
A husband, father, grandfather, author, craftsman, guitarist, mandolinist, guitar-soloist, you know… you name it.
I hope I get to most of those things, but you really do never know. You never really know whats coming next, you never know what’s right around the bend.
Well, anyway, this is just to say that everyones always talking about being afraid of the dark, but like old Caliban said, in that X-men movie Logan, beware the light, you gotta beware the light too.
In the dark, lives the night
but like old Caliban said, beware the light.

Sometimes You Win
02:29
|
|||
Sometimes you win
sometimes you don’t
most times it’s not even up to you
so be who you are
it’ll take you far
do what you do
Sometimes you win
sometimes you won’t
sometimes it’s not even up to you
so be who you are
you’ll be a star
do what you do
Sometimes you win
sometimes you don’t
sometimes you just give up the ghost
so be who you are
and head to the bar
and do what you do
don’t cut me off cold turkey
right in the middle of a streak
I’m at my best, when I take the bet
have your money back next week
don’t cut me off cold turkey
let me stay in one more round
if you don’t mind, I’ll take the cowboys by 9…
and I’ll see y’all downtown
sometimes you win
sometimes you won’t
sometimes you win
sometimes you don’t
sometimes you win
sometimes it just isn’t up to you

Newsbreaks
02:11
|
|||
I gotta say, I love it when the chords change, in the right way.
I gotta say, I love it when a drum break, makes a heart ache.
I gotta say.
I want you to know, that if it’s better late than never, great
I gotta say if tomorrow we up and die, well then at least we tried.
I gotta say
I gotta know does the earth quake when the news breaks?
I gotta know

On the Back Porch
02:22
|
|||
When we want to take it slowly
On the back porch, we’ll be hanging around
On the back porch, that’s where it’s going down
When it’s gonna be sunny
On the back porch, we’ll be hanging around
On the back porch, don’t gotta go downtown.
If you wanna get to know me
On the back porch, we’ll be hanging around
On the back porch, that’s where I’ll be found.

Dust
02:22
|
|||
Was I, was I afraid of what it was, what it was I heard that day?
I think I was. But maybe we come from dust.
When I, when I find the words to say, words from me to help you breathe, I’ll be in touch.
But maybe he just got stuck, maybe we come from dust.
Maybe one day, maybe one day we’ll make sense of this, sense of this that should exist. I think it must.
but maybe he just got stuck, and couldn’t fight the rust.
Was I, was I afraid of what it was, what it was I heard that day?
I think I was. But maybe we come from dust, and maybe he just got stuck, and couldn’t fight the rust.
Maybe we come from dust.
